She’s the only consulting expert with the experience serving as staff within a state agency to implement a state Auto IRA.
Lisa founded Massena Associates to help clients successfully navigate new spaces, achieving on-budget implementations, state of the art operations, happy users, and good policy.
Lisa provides strategic advice on market position and financial analysis; program design and development; implementation planning and support; issue expertise and testimony; marketplace updates and education; and communication. Massena Associates publishes a popular biweekly newspiece on retirement savings innovation, Retirement Security Matters, that has become industry insiders’ standard reading.
Massena Associates maintains an ongoing dialogue with nearly all of the active states, policymakers and service providers in the state facilitated retirement savings space with the intent of sharing best practices and providing relevant information to states as they navigate this new arena. In this informal and semi-formal activity Ms. Massena has engaged more than 38 states over the past five years.
Prior to establishing Massena Associates, Lisa served as the founding Executive Director of the OregonSaves program, the first of retirement savings program of its type to operate in the US. She also served on the Government Savings team at Ascensus, and has held executive positions at State Street and mPower. Lisa is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Municipal Securities Advisor, and a graduate of Portland State University.
